“Incredibly, we can’t achieve peace of mind until we stop living in our mind” Philip McKernan Dead Man Walking. Looking around the room, countless dads were on their phones with their daughters next to them. That was this last weekend at my yearly daddy and daughter date night at a Chick Fil A event. Phones have become a part of everyday life. They take photos, videos and help run our business. Combined with social media and a brain that has FOMO (fear of missing out) it can become a divisive tool. Robbing you without you even knowing it of the very things that our inner selves crave, happiness. The mind doesn’t stop there though

Is Their Anybody Out There? It’s been just over a year since I made the decision to write weekly to my partners. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’m not a writer. Shoot I can’t even spell properly half the time. Thank God for grammar and spell check. The toughest thing about writing is that you don’t even know if any of it is helping someone. That is until someone reaches out and tells you. I got a response like that the other day after my It’s Not Just A Game post from Carol. She said, “Thank you Chad. Have a

It was a weekend filled with excitement. Grandma did a surprise visit, the easter bunny egged our yard and Christ has risen. This was all followed up by an intense three hour game of Horse Monopoly. That’s Emmalyn on the right and Harrison on the left. Mom was taking the picture. For most of us,

Baseball comes to most peoples mind when you hear this term. Not when you’re a climber, though. It’s known as the Explorers Grand Slam. Achieved only by climbing the highest peak on each continent in the world. A feat that only about 80 climbers have done. Climbers that had more than one lung. Which Sean Swarner did not have, as I found out after watching his documentary. Sean was diagnosed with two different forms of the worlds most lethal cancers. Each time given only

For over the last couple of years I have continually worked on the process of a Warren Buffet documented approach to doing business. The goal has always been to provide a superior result for my partners in that process. Over that time I’ve continually encountered with my partners several challenges. The biggest being: Having the down payment Having the credit to qualify for it Being able to afford the payment Budgeting properly for it Most people don’t start tackling this process until right before they are thinking about getting a home. What I have found out time and time again is a mistake. Anytime you rush a process that involves investing hundreds

For the last four months, I’ve been on a deep dive studying how Facebook ads are done. I’ve run my own ads before with success. I have a good feel for the industry of what works and what doesn’t work. I shouldn’t have been shocked what I found. It goes on in every industry. Ya, we’ve all seen them. Posers, wannabes or fakes you might call them. They lack depth. The ability to be a true master. That’s why they have to wrap their garbage in a nice package deceiving people. Some are new to business, and this is the best they have. You can’t blame them. Others are just plain con artists that don’t care.

Looking back it was easy working in the motorcycle dealerships. Everything was done for me. The owners paid for the building. They provided a product for me to sell. They even advertised to bring people in. All I had to do was focus on selling motorcycles. A simple task compared to what I face now. Now I open the doors, put out fires, take care of business and try to push things forward. If you own a business or have gotten bitten by the entrepreneur bug before you know what I’m talking about. Life is like this as well. This is known as working “On Your Business” instead of “In Your Business.” Most entrepreneurs work on

Bringing water As with a lot of farming, a season of flooding hit in Kenya. Wiping out the country’s main food supply. Desperation and hunger struck the country. With little money in reserves, the family was rendered to a point of hopelessness. But not was all lost. They had a young boy they had barely

I got ripped off this last week. I’ve been looking to do Facebook ads and I found a guy that had a course online. Everything was great for the initial part. We had a call. He sent me some files that were a part of the program. I thought everything was starting out pretty well. Then the videos and coaching he promised didn’t get delivered. The first excuse was he took the weekend off. Then it was he got his wife’s cold. Then it was crickets. No replies. No answers to my texts. Nothing. The man just disappeared. I’m disputing the charge today with PayPal. Ironically I read an article this morning that talked about people like this from Robert Glazer. They are known as Ghosters or Ghosting. They don’t like confrontation. Especially when it’s their fault. Their default is to abruptly stop all communication with somebody and put their head in the sand. Flat out behavior like this is dishonest and

Raising kids is like learning to run your own business. Sure you can read books and watch shows on how to do it. But nothing truly prepares you until you got some skin in the game. That’s when the real ride begins. Especially when it comes to four different personalities. Which all my kids distinctly have. Knowing how to work with them can definitely come in hand. A lot of my partners are like my kids. Some are like Harrison (the snuggler) on the left. They are loving people like him that pour themselves out into people. They always make you feel at home and like you are a part of the family. Others are like Coleston next to Harrison. They are smart people but tend not to be the loud one. They like to know the nuts and bolts of the operation and how things work. They like to read the contract. Then you have those that are like my youngest boy
