Nothing But Noise

I started meditating 4:30 in the morning here recently. It’s been one of the best things I ever did.  I use these headphones that my father in law gave my kids for their gaming system. These things are great. When you put them on it, feels like all the noise of the world disappears. Everything gets quiet, and a sense of peace comes over me.  I feel like I’m in a whole new place. No distractions. Just space and me. I feel like I get a lot more done every day when I feel my world is quieter. Recently I have been having back issues. Which has lead to me having headaches. So this morning I decided to try going to Starbucks to write. Something I never do. I brought those headphones in with me. The place is always busy. The machines making noise in the background. People rushing in and out trying

I Can’t Breathe

“I can’t breathe…” “What are you doing?” I asked my 3 year old Grayson with the fridge open last night. Resulting in a hmmmmf as he ran off. More times than not followed by a dramatic episode where he starts crying and saying “I can’t breathe. In which I just stare and usually laugh inside. The little man hits

Don’t Drink The Water

Boy, we have had a lot of rain lately. I’m actually enjoying it. But for some water isn’t always the best thing. Water is a crazy thing. It can destroy and wreak havoc on everything. Washing things downstream to corroding away something over long periods of time. I won’t even bring up the damage it does when your hot water heater breaks. Water has a lot of advantages, though. I had the opportunity Friday to enjoy a sunny day with my kids before the weekend rain moved in. We went to one of our favorite places Savers. I look for great books and my kids

Are You Yellow?

Are You Yellow? A challenge is only as good as the person willing to accept it. Last Thursday I was chasing my son around the couch. The dog got excited and knocked my son’s feet right from underneath him. Smack! The sound echoed as he hit his head. I knew this wasn’t a normal smack.

Gut Bomb

Sitting down at the table, I greeted the waitress. It’s been a while. Why don’t you have a beer I told myself. 32 oz beer that is. Oh and some greasy food as well. In the back of my head, I heard the voice say “you’re supposed to work out tomorrow”. I pushed it out of my head as I often times have done before. As my alarm went off at 4:30 the next day, my stomach

Is is really better?

I love history. I love watching shows about discovering the past. Especially when it leads to ways that are far superior to a method, we use today. I was watching a show about the Aztecs civilization before it’s fall. The thought that these cities in the jungle could only support thousands of people. Mainly because the soil wouldn’t support a large population. They are discovering now that some of these cities supported hundreds of thousands of people. But how? They have found that they created their own soil. About ten feet underground lays some of the most nutrient rich soil that has ever been found. But here is the kicker. Scientist can’t even figure out

Following Bread Crumbs

I wrote about my top books that impacted my life on Facebook yesterday. If you like you can check it out here. Books have changed my life in a profound way. If you’ve been reading my emails for a while, you already know that when I was younger I was doing drugs. I was lost.

Homeless With Faith

Good morning. If you read my last post, you know that it was my anniversary. Which brought back memories of when I first met my wife. It took a lot of faith for me to get the courage to talk to her back then. But that’s what faith is all about. Putting yourself out there when you don’t know what’s going to happen.  I’m always amazed by people that had nothing but faith in themselves. Ralph Lauren is one of those people. Ya, he is the salon guy that you see on TV from time to time. Ralph Lauren is now worth over 1 Billion dollars. But it

And Then They Were Gone

And Then They Were Gone Have you ever worked on something and had it disappear? When something like that happens, all hell breaks loose.  A flood of emotions hit your mind as you try to figure out if there is a backup plan for all the lost work. That’s what happened to me not long ago with my computer. I wrote about it the other day here on Facebook. We walk through life in this fast-paced world. Advancements happen, and we forget to slow down and take inventory

What’s In The Sauce?

What’s In The Sauce? I was reading a friend’s Eric Verdi email the other day on FREE BEER. Well, that’s what the sign said at a bar of a show he was watching. Something most people would take advantage of. This sign later related to an email that he got from another realtor. Below is
