Broken Models

Part 1 There’s an old saying that says “Birds a feather flock together.” Meaning you become what you hang around.  Which means more often than not you adopt that persons philosophies and habits. Now that can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing depending on who you are hanging around. One industry that has definitely changed its old habits is car dealerships. An industry that was once

Plan X

Yesterday was Harrison’s (also known as hamburgers) my second sons birthday. The transformers we got him were an unexpected hit. Sorry, grandpa. The tablet he got him was put aside. Who would’ve thought so? I was glad I was here for it. I wrote why that was significant here on Facebook. I’ve been taking some Sunday’s off lately and have been watching some football. I must say there are some high scoring teams out there this year. One of them being the Saints. A few weeks ago they went into Dallas as one of the hottest teams going. Scoring tons of points on its opponents. But nobody told Dallas that.

Time well spent

Reading a friends post this morning I can across a quote from Steve Jobs. I had heard that Steve Jobs was an atheist but at the end of his life, he started to see things differently. Below is a quote of what he said while lying on his deathbed. “I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to. At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and

Want vs Drive

Good morning. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. 2019 is almost here, and a lot of people will be setting goals again. As I read through my notes taken from past years at the church, I came across this note “When I have no drive to discover the truth I have no reason to challenge error.” This made me think of my riddled past and how I have handled it. Many times in my past I said I wanted something.

Elusive Gobler

The anticipation has been building. The turkey I talked about a few posts ago has been eluding our traps. My son Coleston is getting nervous. What if we don’t catch it, dad? Will, we still have turkey for dinner he asks?  I’m not sure. We’ve never done this before. We only have two more days to catch it, though. So we’ll set to two traps tonight to catch it, though. We just need to stick to the plan I said. I’ll keep you updated on how things go. Life is like this through a lot of times. It seems to elude us all the time. Continually moving around like that turkey. Changing from place to place. Once you think you finally have it figured out it moves again. Leaving you discouraged and

1% Change

A 1% change daily forward or backward in your life can have a large impact. Especially when it comes to gaining or losing weight. Sneakily it is so easy to put on. An extra bite here. A dessert there. Then all the sudden you are 10, 15, 25 pounds or more overweight. Marginal gains can

The Other Side Of The Tracks

The Other Side Of The Tracks I’m sure you’ve heard that saying before. It’s a saying typically indicating that you’re from a part of town that’s not so good. It’s a term that puts someone or something in a category. Framing them into thinking they are something that someone else tells them they are. I

Trust But Verify

Not too long ago I watched a documentary about a treasure that was found undersea on Netflix.  It started out with this great story of a quest. Where an artist from Europe invests with this treasure hunter to find it.  Reaching back into history books of folklore and a ship that was rumored once to have gone down. Each moment keeping you on the edge of your seat to see what clue would bring them to the next.  I was sucked in from the word treasure, and I couldn’t believe the story

How To Catch A Gobbler

“Dad look at my shirt. (A turkey with a tie)” “It’s the first day of November.” “The countdown to Thanksgiving begins.”The turkey moved.”my oldest son Coleston said as I stared at my monitor trying to think of something to write about to you today. So what’s the Turkey all about?  We started years ago the Elf On The Shelf during Christmas. My wife decided to add a turkey for Thanksgiving to the mix. The difference is that we needed to try to catch the turkey with a trap. Which moves every day. What I mean by we is my son Coleston and I. I assist him in looking up how to build traps online. Then we set them. We had an early start in November because he saw the turkey in the garage. But we explained that it’s not turkey season yet so it doesn’t move around much. Today that all ended. As you can tell. The cool thing

It Will Kill You

Everyone has it. It’s something we can’t get away from. It affects some more than others.  Yes, I’m talking about stress. That elusive thing, that lives inside. You know it’s there but you can’t see it.  One of the biggest things I hate about it is that it affects so much of your body. Especially when you get older. Back pain, tight muscles, low energy are just a few of the things it causes. It’s so destructive we have a whole world of medication built around it. Which doesn’t surprise me. The media and our economy are built around it. They are either trying to get our emotions up to get better ratings or driving us harder to higher profits. If
