Are You Making Adjustments?
By Chad Denke
Good morning!
Hope you had a good weekend. My weekend was a little crazy. You see I haven’t had a weekend off intentionally in years and I found myself feeling like a fish out of water.
I normally do open houses on the weekend but this week I was doing some outreach to invite people to Easter Sunday coming up. But the events weren’t all day so I found myself with some free time that I normally don’t have.
Which is normally not a good thing for me because I am so used to doing something and when I sit around it drives me CRAZY!
So rather than sit around all day I decided to make a adjustment to my plans and do a tune up on my Chevy Suburban that I had been putting off for some time.
You see I am no mechanic by any measure (Their is a reason for that) but changing out some spark plugs and wires seemed easy enough for me.
I got my tools out and went to work. I started out on the right side where plug one through four were and things went pretty well. I was half way done but my body was starting to show some wear and tear. My arms were all scratched up and my body was starting to get sore from being in positions it hadn’t seen in years.
But I pushed forward and proceeded to the left hand side where plugs four through eight were.
Five done…
Six done…
Seven done…
Eight…. Well not so done.
I had hit the (this is the reason why you pay someone wall). This #8 spark plug was way in the back in a tight crammed place where your wrench and hand could barely fit.
I tried getting back in there to remove the plug, I looked for ways to get around it but I just couldn’t figure it out.
Which lead me to do what I normally do. Look it up on Youtube.
After reviewing a video I went back down to have another try at it. But once again I failed. I was frustrated and had used more curse words at it than I had used in a very long time. I was sore, I was done and I left the work for the next day.
I arose Sunday early in the morning determined to figure things out. I jumped back on Youtube and found a new video.
It gave me a new insight on how to go about getting the 8 Ball spark plug out. I ran out and tried this new adjustment.
Within minutes I had the boot cover off and was replacing the #8 spark plug in no time.
What was taking me hours before just took me a few minutes. All I needed was a half time adjustment. A minute to think about things, map out a new plan, execute that plan and whalla. Everything comes together and you have a winning strategy.
It made me think to last weeks article I wrote about Tom VS Time.
Tom Brady is always making adjustments…
The biggest adjustment he ever made was at the Super Bowl 2 years ago. The Patriots were down by more than 4 touchdowns at half time and everyone was praising the Falcons for winning the Super Bowl. Shoot even the owner was dancing on the sidelines.
But then it happened. A half time adjustment to all the things that were going wrong.
Just like my half time adjustment; Tom Brady came out and blew the doors off of the Atlanta Falcons in the second half. Going on to make the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history and win his 5th Super Bowl.
Making quick adjustments like these has helped me tremendously with my clients in the Super Competitive market today. Just this last week a half time adjustment just like these enabled Cosme and Karla to get the 1st offer in on a super clean property and get accepted before any other offers had gotten in.
Which was HUGE because we had been facing multiple offers in the past.
It’s not always easy to step back when moving forward. But when you do it can pay big dividends. Make adjustments, unshackle your chains and keep up the good fight.
