Does it pay to be a worm?

I hope you all had a great fathers day. I always look forward to days like this because I am forced to take the time off. One of my biggest problems I have is taking time to slow things down.

The last 7 months have been quit CRAZY!. Last December I decided to change everything I was doing. This weekly email was one of those things. I have also been reading a lot of books as well.

Today I’d like to share with you the ones that have really impacted my life.

Now I can hear you saying “I’m not a reader”. Good… Then get the audio version of it. I recently was listening to a speaker that said “I never read”. But people always tell him he is so smart.

He learned that reading was never for him so he watches videos, listens to audio and podcasts. For those of you who don’t know what a podcast is, it’s a show you can download and listen to episodes on. Basically your own radio on the fly for your phone or tablet.

The point is find what works for you. It will change your life!

Just a note. Just because a book is talking about a subject that you think matters doesn’t mean that the principles and rules in it won’t work for your life. I guess what I’m saying is break the book down. Don’t just read it for what it says it is or think that it can’t relate to you.

There’s more behind the curtain if you choose to look.

Ok here we go in no particular order.

  1. The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman

– This book really opened my eyes to a lot of things

     2. The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren

           – Amazing book on building something with purpose

     3.   The Difference A Father Makes by Ed Tandy McGlasson

-Simple straight forward advice on how to impact your child’s life

     4. Do The Work by Steven Pressfield

-Straight forward advice on how to fight the biggest enemy…. Yourself

I have some other highly recommended books that I am trying to get to and I’ll keep you posted on the ones that are the best.

If you choose to check one of these out, I’d like to hear back from you what you thought. Each one of these books has helped my relationship with my family and you my partners.

I hope they help you as well. It can pay to be a bookworm.
