What’s At Rock Bottom?

Good morning

Thanks to everyone that replied back to last weeks post about my dog Heinz.  It’s never easy saying goodbye to a loved one.  When you go through something like that it makes you think about things.

Matter of fact it’s kind of crazy how a event like this can bring you back to a place in time over 20 years ago.  Taking my mind, body and spirit to a time back in my twenties when I had hit Rock Bottom from doing drugs.

Have you ever thought of why they call it ROCK BOTTOM?

It’s probably a question you have never thought about before if you have never been there.

But you don’t have to of been there to understand the principles that can be taken away from it.  If you talk to a lot of recovering alcoholics or drug addicts they always say that they have hit Rock Bottom and had no where to go but up.

From there they go on to do Amazing things in their life and never look back.

Why is that?

Why do some of us need to reach the point of no return to realize the truth in things?

Looking back on my own situation I can clearly see why my journey lead me there.  At the time I thought I knew it all.  I didn’t need peoples help and thought I was on the right path.

After all I was partying and having fun.  Things were at a all time high.

Which is usually when things are getting ready to come crashing down.

Why?

Because most people don’t take the time to build on a true foundation.

Just like the Three Little Pigs Story I tell my kids.  One built a house with straw, one with wood and one with brick.  We all know who’s house didn’t go blowing down.

The  house that was built on the solid foundation.

This is the reason why Amazing things happen after hitting rock bottom.  Because all the junk in out of the way.  Finally you are willing to accept the fact that you don’t know it all.  Your mind if finally open to a better way of doing things and to live a better life.

The foundation is clear and you can start laying solid bricks from the ground up.

Justin Kanayurak said it best “Once you hit rock bottom, that’s where you perfectly stand; That’s your chance of restarting, but restarting the right way.

I couldn’t of put it better.

I have learned a lot from that season of my life.  It has taught me that sometimes you start out wrong and you have to make correction to get it right.  But you don’t have to hit rock bottom to do so.

You can recognize things are not going well and make the corrections you need to build on a solid rock.

I saw signs like these not to long ago in my real estate business.

I’m the type of person that learns from others and when I got into this business I was looking how other so called Top Agents were doing things.

I figured that if they were successful doing things then I would just do what they were doing.

This lead me to a way of doing business that I never agreed with and have never done before.  I found myself cold calling people on the phone, bugging them in their free time, doing internet leads, door knocking and much more.

I had become that pesky sales guy that people hate.  Shoot that I hate.  I never ever want people to look at me as some SLEAZY sales guy who slobbers on them for business.

But that was all this industry was teaching me and it was driving me crazy.

I knew I had to change things.  Having been through situations like this is my past I realized I needed to tear things down to Rock Bottom.

So that’s what I did.

I set out to build a business that was standing on integrity, honor, respect and honesty.  I then set out to disrupt the industry going against all sales tactics.

I co authored a book called the Value Driven Approach To Real Estate to Expose the real estate industry of it’s crime and greed, am in the works to put on a pod cast to promote local businesses  and am soon starting a local newsletter.  All because I learned how to recognize rock bottom.

The greatest thing about being at Rock Bottom is that you become a part ot the foundation  and  you give others a stepping stone to step up and step out to become the people they were meant to be.

Hope this helps.  Keep up the good fight my friends, unshackle your chains and become the rock that foundations are built on.
