A candy crush…
Good morning.
Looking at pictures like the one above really bring me back in time. Especially when it comes to the kinds of things, I loved to eat as a kid.
For me one of the things I liked most was Twinkies. I couldn’t get enough of them. I had this special way of eating them. I like the cream filling inside the most, so I would pull off the top of them and eat the cake first. Then I would eat the other half that had most the cream filled center.
I loved them.
Which is why a few years back I was a little surprised to hear that the company that made them was going bankrupt. The stapled Twinkie was about to become extinct, and millions of little hearts were about to be crushed.
Things looked bleak until a investor group called Metropoulos bought them out. Only after a few years the company turned Twinkies back into a superstar and now is a 2 Billion dollar company.
That was over 5 years ago. But Metropoulos finds itself in the spotlight once again looking to rescue another iconic brand. You might know them at Sweetheart Candy.
America’s oldest candy brand has gone broke, and Metropoulos looks to bring them back again.
Taking over a process like this is obviously something that only a few companies are cut out to do. It takes a special skill and experience to know that you have the right forsite to bring something to where it belongs.
I recently just had a client Gary that had a similar situation as these companies. Just like their businesses he had a beautiful home that had a sparkling pool, a patio that oversaw the golf course, a spa and much more. But he was facing some trouble.
When Gary had called me it was after he had the house taken off the market. After talking with him I could tell that he was not happy with the realtor that helped him from before. Leaving him with a bad taste in his mouth for the agent and any others to come afterword.
But you know I wasn’t worried. Over time I’ve always tried to be respectful of people and treat them like I would like to be treated. I have found when you do that, that you rarely face a issue when dealing with people. Because I have an expectation mindset of doing things right with people.
Plus just like Metropoulos I knew that I had a document approach and a proven track record. So I met up with Gary and we put a game plan together. After about a month and a few touch up to the property, we hit the market.
The house went under contract that same day.
You know the market is good, and I’m not some genius. But I do follow a documented approach to doing things. When you do that it opens doors for you to see things differently then maybe someone else. It allows you approach things from a different angle. It’s this consistency that produces superior results for my partners.
It’s things like that, that will keep you in the candy business and that’s all something we can love.
