Bringing Water

Bringing water

As with a lot of farming, a season of flooding hit in Kenya. Wiping out the country’s main food supply. Desperation and hunger struck the country.

With little money in reserves, the family was rendered to a point of hopelessness.

But not was all lost. They had a young boy they had barely been able to send to school. Engineer type of smart. He had a plan to build a windmill to create energy to pump water from the well.

But there was one problem. It took dismantling and using the only mode of transportation the family had. A bicycle.

The father thought he was crazy. “Is this what that school has taught you he asked?”

The father didn’t understand. He couldn’t see what the boy could see. It wasn’t his fault. He just never had access to information like his son did.

As I watched and the movie moved along the boy was finally able to convince his dad that he could bring water from the well to the field.

In the end, the boy saved his family and brought water to his father’s fields to this day.

Working as an investor for my clients is a lot like this story at times. Behind the scenes, a lot of things going on.

At times storms hit from behind the scenes. Sometimes crops get taken out.

For example sellers not wanting to pay unpaid HOA fees on an investment home that are back due. Or they aren’t willing to complete all the repairs a partner asks for.

These are things that can be a sticking point and kill the deal.

They are also things that get solved without a partner ever hearing about it.

Yes, sometimes a bike gets sacrificed to do it. But in the end, it’s about bringing water to our partners. That water is your home.

Even if you don’t know how we did it. In the end, it is our job to know how to fix the problem. Not just stand there without a clue.

Solving problems is what we do.

Thank God for education. Our goal will always be to bring a Value Driven approach to you.

Have a great week.
