Elusive Gobler
The anticipation has been building. The turkey I talked about a few posts ago has been eluding our traps. My son Coleston is getting nervous.
What if we don’t catch it, dad? Will, we still have turkey for dinner he asks?
I’m not sure. We’ve never done this before. We only have two more days to catch it, though. So we’ll set to two traps tonight to catch it, though. We just need to stick to the plan I said.
I’ll keep you updated on how things go.
Life is like this through a lot of times. It seems to elude us all the time. Continually moving around like that turkey. Changing from place to place.
Once you think you finally have it figured out it moves again. Leaving you discouraged and scratching your head.
Which can often lead to discouragement? Which can then lead to giving up?
That’s why it’s important to have a plan in place at all times so that you can chart the progress every day.
It’s the sustained discipline of following the path every day that will get you to where you want to go.
Roald Amundsen followed this same path when he set out to be the first to the south pole. Each day he set a goal to travel a set amount of hours every day. No matter what the conditions.
This consistency allowed him to keep a steady pace to his goal. So much so that he finished reaching the South Pole over 30 days ahead of Robert Scott. Who set out at the same time to try to beat him.
That’s the power of sticking to a plan. At times it doesn’t seem like you’ll get there but in the end, you do.
That’s why it’s important to follow a documented approach to doing things. It gets you results.
Which was the case with my partner Connie that just got her new home? We had some bumps in the beginning. The loan got hung up. The bank wanted to see all kinds of documents on things.
It didn’t look like things were going to close. But we kept working the deal. We stayed the course and kept pushing through on the days that things didn’t look good.
It came all the way down to the end. But you know we followed the plan and got things pushed through.
Sometimes you’ve got to work your plan and plan your work.
That’s the plan we are going to do with the turkey. I know we’ll catch it in the end.:)
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
