I Can’t Breathe

“I can’t breathe…”

“What are you doing?” I asked my 3 year old Grayson with the fridge open last night. Resulting in a hmmmmf as he ran off.

More times than not followed by a dramatic episode where he starts crying and saying “I can’t breathe. In which I just stare and usually laugh inside.

The little man hits panic mode all the time. If something doesn’t go right. BOOM! Panic mode.

Nothing ever gets solved in panic mode. When your in panic mode your frame of thinking isn’t right. Everything is on FIRE. You don’t make good decisions.

Which doesn’t lead to getting anything in the Denke household.

You must first calm yourself down and work your way through things.

It takes a deep understanding of how to resolve things when you are in a panic mode. It’s so easy to let yourself go haywire.

It seems like real estate is always in a state of panic mode. Whether the times are good or the times are bad. When they are good people are fighting over homes to get what they want. When they are bad people could be losing their homes or have homes that just sit on the market.

Either way can lead to mass panic mode at times.

That’s why it’s always important to keep your resolve in any situation. Something that is easier said than done. The brain doesn’t operate properly when it’s in panic mode.

We make decisions that don’t make sense. We reason ourselves into things that we normally wouldn’t do. We hit the panic button. Which can be ok at times if you have the right people around you that can help you resolve the issue.

Which was the case I had with one of my partners Connie recently. We have a house under contract and financing was going well. But we ran into a snag with how Connie was using her rental income.

It was a problem. One we couldn’t fix either. Each lender has its own rules and this particular one didn’t accept things this way. We were out of financing.

The good news was we didn’t panic. We took the time to look at it and how we could resolve it. So I sent it over to another lender that I work with. They looked at the file with different guidelines, and we had no problems.

Things are moving along well and we are all set to go.

This is the result, though, when you don’t panic. There’s always a way to resolve a problem. Sometimes you just need to step back to notice it.

When you have a Value Driven Approach panic is not a problem.

Have a great week.
