Living In Our Mind
“Incredibly, we can’t achieve peace of mind until we stop living in our mind” Philip McKernan Dead Man Walking.
Looking around the room, countless dads were on their phones with their daughters next to them.
That was this last weekend at my yearly daddy and daughter date night at a Chick Fil A event.
Phones have become a part of everyday life. They take photos, videos and help run our business.
Combined with social media and a brain that has FOMO (fear of missing out) it can become a divisive tool.
Robbing you without you even knowing it of the very things that our inner selves crave, happiness.
The mind doesn’t stop there though as Philip states.
“Nothing will ruin your contentment, peace of mind, health and happiness like living in your head and thinking only about the past or the future.”
This is what happens when you live a life of “mindset” and not “soulset” Philip explains.
Looking at my own life, I realized I had implemented a soulset in some areas already but didn’t really realize it.
Like when dealing with my partners. Years ago when I was younger, I was always taught a salesman mindset, ground, and pound.
Now I just want to connect. If it’s a fit then great. If not then someone else is probably a fit.
I also realized I fell short of this in too many places of my life.
I’ve set goals that have taken me away from my family. I’ve let past failures keep me down.
I just never realized how these things in our mind robbed us of the very thing we deserve, connection and peace.
It’s kind of like cancer that you can’t see. You may not know it’s there for some time but if left unchecked, it can have a devastating result.
Someone once told me that once something is seen it can’t be unseen.
If you’re wondering, lost of feeling trapped in your head, you’re not alone.
Take a look at yourself and where you’re at. I think you’ll find you’re in your mindset.
Have a good day.
