Quitters Get A Pass…

Good morning

I wrote the other day about my son Harrison on Facebook in “Quitters get a pass…“Which is why in my house when you commit to something Quitting Is Not A Option.

So why is it so important to me?

You may or may not know, but I had a past history of drugs years ago. I spent years quitting on myself mentally. It all started with a first step, then a next step and so on.

Once you start compromising things and taking the easy way out, it can lead to a slippery slope of all kinds of mistakes in life. Ultimately if I had really quit, I wouldn’t be here today.

I learned a lot of things from that period of my life. Now sometimes you find yourself in a situation where quitting is inevitable, then this should be a time to reflect on what you learned and move forward.

Derek Redmond was a man that had a chance to do such a reflection. He was considered one of the fastest men in the world when he had an injury before the 1988 Olympics. Faced with the decision to hang it our or push forward, Derek decided to push forward and train for the 1992 Olympics.

Fours years a preparation was up and Derek found himself at the 400m starting line. The gun went off, and everybody took off with an ambition of getting Gold. A quarter through the race Derek tore his hamstring.

Broken and defeated on the track, he was determined to finish the last 100 meters. He began to hop to the finish line while thousands cheered him on. Not long after that his dad came from out of nowhere to put his arm around him and cross the finish line.

A gold medal wasn’t won that day by Derek, but the heart of millions was captured. I wonder what impact of not quitting has made on his life and those that watch that video for years to come?

Sometimes my partners (yes, that’s clients, more on that another day.) have a hard time getting the financing in place to get a home. It can take time to get things fixed and in order to get a credit score to a level where they get the best deal.

During this time self-doubt, the hassle of getting docs, proof of funds, and much more can get you down. Even to a point of wanting to quit. Just like I did with my Son and Derek dad did with him. We are here to help you up, see things through and enjoy the fruits that you get from not giving up.

Of course that’s a nice new house. 🙂

Embrace the day, unshackle your chains and of course never give up!
