The Grand Slam…

Baseball comes to most peoples mind when you hear this term. Not when you’re a climber, though.

It’s known as the Explorers Grand Slam.

Achieved only by climbing the highest peak on each continent in the world.

feat that only about 80 climbers have done.

Climbers that had more than one lung.

Which Sean Swarner did not have, as I found out after watching his documentary.

Sean was diagnosed with two different forms of the worlds most lethal cancers.

Each time given only a few weeks to live after being discovered.

He beat the first and second. The second time around took his lung, though.

Having beat all the odds Sean became an activist for hope.

He carries that hope to the top of mountains with a flag.

Signed with names of those that have been lost and those that are still fighting.

The North Pole is the last piece to complete this life long trip. Conquer the grand slam and cancer with it.

I’m always amazed what can be accomplished by people when they set their mind to it.
Most climbers can’t even make it up one mountain with all the tools, net alone one lung.

Sean has done it, though. That’s the power of having a cause.

Causes allow you to defy what your mind will tell you. They allow you to push forward when everybody else is ready to stop.

They keep you in check.

In real estate it allows you to have integrity.

Let’s face it, the industry is riddled with people who do things wrong.

Just this weekend I had a new partner that told me her previous agent charged her money to buy a home.

Something that is legal but not the norm in this business. The seller pays for the buyers agent.

have countless stories of other people being ripped off.

That’s what happens, though, when you deal with people that don’t have a cause.

They do things that benefit them and not other people.

At times it can be hard to identify people like this. I should know I got ripped off not to long ago.

I’ve found though in the past if you talk to them more and get to know their heart things like this never tend to happen.

If that doesn’t work then flat out ask them what their cause is.

If they look at you funny, then you probably found your answer.

Buying or selling a home can be lot like climbing mountains. Up and downup and down.

What matters most in the end is that you complete the grand slam.

The view is for you to see from the top, not the other way around.

Have a great day.
