Stranger Danger

Good morning.

I wrote yesterday on my Facebook page about how apps are replacing people these days. But that’s not all they are doing to people. I was reading in.“The Hustle” the other day and according to some studies they are instilling a fake trust with people we don’t even know.

Matter of fact according to a new study Americans trust in people is the lowest it’s ever been. Down to a overall 31% according to The General Social Survey (1972-2016).

So if trust is down then, how are apps improving our ability to trust?

According to The Hustle “companies gain trust through technologies like digital ranking systems, which aim to recreate a model of capitalism that is highly (and, by certain measures, artificially) personal.”Companies like Rideshare (a company like Uber) have used it to gain a 88% trust factor with people.

Simply put they are letting you see people’s profiles, comments from others, star ratings and much more to connect and trust a complete stranger. Disarming our defense mechanism of “stranger danger.”

This keeps peoples guard down and makes us susceptible to possible unforeseen dangers. After all do we really know who these people are?

But it hasn’t stopped companies from moving forward with things. One of these big companies has brought such a technology to the real estate market.

These companies are looking to remove almost any contact with people when it comes to showing your home. They allow access to your home with a lock box that is linked to a app. When someone would like to see your home they just request it on the app and you can go inside to see the house.

This is all without a realtor… yep, they are roaming through your house without a licensed and bonded person.

Now some of you might be ok with doing something like this. But I have found that when you give responsibility to others you are no longer take control of your own destiny. Leaving you to take a ride to go wherever it goes from there…

Just ask one Airbnb client that had a guest rent out their house with a fake credit card and threw a “drug induced” party. Trashing the place.

We live in a fast-paced world where we want everything to be easy with just the click of a app. These things can never replace a person that has True authenticity.

This is one of the biggest reasons why we practice a Value Driven Approach here. We realized that people don’t need this if you provide then with a tried and Proven process. When you treat people, how they should be treated, keeps them informed, walk with integrity, the need for technology that disconnects us disappears.

We build a real bond of Trust that matters and is not something that is some synthesized digital ranking system.

Technology is meant to help but it is our job to continue to carry a level of standard where it doesn’t put us in chains, replace us or tear down our Trust.

It is our job to start building Authentic Trust once again… Step up, step out and unshackle your chains my friends…
