A Christmas Story tale
Good morning.
Have you ever had one of those days where something happens to you like it was out of a movie?
Ya, we had something like that happen yesterday…
One of my favorite movies is A Christmas Story. Like most dads the one thing we dads look forward to on the holidays is the turkey or whatever big thing is being made for the day.
We all know how what happened at the end of the day with the turkey in the movie. Ya, we had a scene play out like that at our house.
I cooked a honey ham for the first time rather than my traditional glazed ham. Just like the father in The Christmas Story I watched it like a hawk. At the end I got my baster utensil out and glazed it inside and out. My mouth watering as I did so.
Ten minutes later it was ready to serve… I cut up the portions, and we enjoyed a killer honey baked ham with some great friends.
I bet you thought I was going to go to tell you the dog ate it right? Well, that’s where I’m going now.
As we ate, what had been carved up, I left the remainder of the ham on the kitchen table. As you all know I recently just got a new dog. Well you guessed it… I didn’t cover the ham up, and she went to town on it like a savage beast.
Leaving me heartbroken and killing my dreams of leftovers!
All that hard work and because I let me guard down, It was taken away.
That’s the thing about hard work. It can be taken away in no time at all. Recently I mentioned Netflix in a past email about how they had come from a nothing company passing Comcast and becoming the 2nd largest company, just behind Disney.
A pretty big accomplishment, especially if you think of how long Comcast has been around. But like I said sometimes when you put in all that hard work it you let your guard down things can get by.
Just this morning I read that Netflix had just passed Disney as the largest media company.
It’s not easy staying at the top. It takes a lot of time and commitment to make sure you are doing things right to keep things on track.
Right now the real estate market is a lot like that. Houses are flying off the shelf in 1 day in many cases. It’s made the market very competitive and frenzy like. Causing me to step up my game more to be on top of new listings that hit the market for my partners.
Cause in this market the one thing I know is that if I take my eye off of the ham; someone could swipe in and take all the hard work.
And we know that’s no fun!
