Do You Know When It’s The End?

Good morning

Things are a little heavy for me this morning.  For the first time in over 15 years I have begun my morning without a dog next to me.

It really hasn’t sunk in yet…

Life is full of journeys.  Some of them are long and some of them short.

The greatest thing about them is that you never know where they are going to take you.

But one thing I do know is that they all have a destination that marks the end.

Sometimes that end is determined by yourself and then again sometimes you don’t have any say in it at all.

The journeys that seem to hurt the most are the ones that the rides and memories where the greatest.

Especially from a friend that never asked anything more from you other than to love them…

To give up just a few minutes of time to pat them a little or rub their belly.

Journeys with friends like this make it almost impossible to give up on it.

But what happens when the journey is no longer feasible and it has reached it’s destination?

When things have run their course and whether you like it or not you need to make a decision on what to do.

That my friends was the decision me and my wife Michelle faced yesterday with our dog Heinz.

But you know life is like this.

Sometimes we have to face the music and look at things in our life that once were and make a decision that you have reached the destination and to put it to rest.

No matter how good the ride was and the memories were.  This is just how life works.

Before I got into real estate again I had my own business buying/selling motorcycles and cars.  10 years on my own and 20 in the industry.

I had some great years in that business working my way from a mop boy all the way up into being a GM of a Yamaha store.  Then after that I set off on my own to run my own dealership.

The journey was great and I have a lot of memories from it as well.  I was my own boss and in control of my own freedom and path.

But like with my dog Heinz the journey began to change.  The conditions started to become worse and I could see that the journey was coming to a end.

I was faced with a hard decision.

Abandon the one thing that had kept food on my table for me and my family for the last 20 years or stick it out and take the chance of drowning with a sunken ship.

I obviously chose to move and got back into realestate.  🙂  Why?

Because I knew that I had reached my destination with the chapter in my life and if I was going to be able to do missions and become a philanthropist, then I was going to need a new journey with a new destination.

I have seen far to many people hang on to things when they should of let go.

I have learned a lot from these experiences over the last few years.  They have taught me how to recognize things for what they are and make the right decisions on when to let go.

If you are going to get where you want to go in life sometimes you have to say goodbye to the old journey and welcome the new one.

Journeys have destinations so you can move on to new ones.  With Heinz gone we are looking forward welcomnig a new dog to our family for a new one.
